AMERICAN REALITY! Celebrating 50 years of Beauty! November 1970. In a flash of inspiration, the Dead evolved into storytellers. A pivotal moment that would lay the groundwork in carrying forward the rich tradition of folk-country roots (with a major twist of psychedelia). Leaning on acoustic simplicity to craft a new message, the boys unearthed a major part of their true identity. A core that they would expound upon for decades to come, even while playing electric instruments. American Beauty seemed to be a 2nd genesis moment for the Grateful Dead.
In honor of such a timeless moment, we put a Levi’s premium trucker on the sewing machine for nearly 2 days. Inlaying over 200,000 layered stitches w/ one goal in mind: to properly honor such a moment & the timeless artwork that symbolizes it.
